You may end up with a few weeks off, I was at the rink on Saturday night the beam in my zone, thats right I said MY zone, is split in three different places almost all the way across the ice. I hope they don't shut down completely it is that bad.

ROSTRAVER, Pa. - The owner of the western Pennsylvania ice skating rink where a roof collapsed says he believes excessive snow over the past 10 days caused a wooden truss to break.
No one was hurt when a 100-by-200-foot section of roof collapsed between games of a youth hockey tournament at the Rostraver Ice Garden near Pittsburgh.
About 100 people were inside at the time. Search teams sifted through the rubble to make sure no one was trapped. They determined everyone had been accounted for.
The region has gotten more than two feet of snow in the past week and a half.
Owner Jim Murphy says he doesn't have a cost estimate of the damage caused in Sunday's accident. The building was constructed in 1965.

Well, It IS good to hear the rink will re-open. BUT what are wew going to do until October? Can't skate, too much snow to golf and I do not follow basketbal. What to do?

Is this really a political issue within the township? If needed, Im still pretty friendly with the Chief of Police there. Im certain he has some friends on the board of commissioners. I'll certainly give him a call if you think it might help. Does anyone know when the meeting, vote or discussion will take place regarding this issue? Let me know, I'll make the call. Maybe if we presented a group picture with sad faces it could persuade non-hockey people.

SERIOUSLY, Does any one know when the meeting is? Will this be a topic at one of the monthly (open to public) meetings? If so we need to get a group together to go and particpate and be heard. Else the snobs from the Country Club will lobby to have it pulled down!
The meetings are held every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Starts at 7:00 P.M. in the Twp. building.
Next meeting March 9th.

Don't give up just yet. I learned last night that the rink is going to try reopening within the next two weeks. It needs off season renovation, but it got an OK bill of health for now. Keep your fingers crossed and your skates rust free.
We have enough cops for a Rodney King beating but not one gaddamn structural engineer playing hockey with us?
Maybe one of the police have arrested a structual engineer and work out a plee bargin.

State of mind: First off he is a goalie . All goalies are whacked. It’s a little known fact that many of histories major nut jobs were goalies. Gary Heidnik, Idi Amin, Elton John and Judas Iscariot were all goalies.
Motive: Its been widely written in the blog about Siv Packs longing to get back to the ice. This is the classic “I’ll take my ball and go home” twisted a tad to (cue the Dr. Evil laugh) “I’ll destroy the entire freakin rink!!!!!! Moohahahaha…mooohahahaha!!!”
Means: Riddle me this batman: 6 is a sprinkler fitter right? So he has access to kinds of what? Wait for it…..wait for it….yup, You guessed it: LADDERS. How else would he have gotten up there to punch holes in the beams?
And finally, the criminal always, I mean always, returns to the scene of the crime. Just like our beloved goalie reporting on the blog on the state of the damage at the rink from where else? The rink!
I’m not a lawyer but I have watched a tremendous amount of television and I think the facts I have laid out above prove without a doubt that Siv pack sabotaged the rink!! Or Tree did it because he is a goalie too. Or the Fan did it and fled to county, like Jim Thorpe, with a non-extradition treaty. Or it may have been Russ. Or it may have been Fricker and Brian symbolically projecting their wheat-hatred on the rink. Definite possibility that it could have been Kilgore and Liam together.
I am sensing entirely too much pent up energy. Anyone want to try curling?
