WEEKLY UPDATE

Great pace to this one as the flat bellies returned forcing the old guys to pick up their game for the second week in a row, this time the Darkies held off the White squad for the win. Opie got on the board early & was a force throughout matching the youngsters stride for stride. Dirty Curty may soon forget about his little side-kick Brit if he continues to play along side young Mike. Mike picked up the nick-name "Play Station" for his moves in roller hockey & used some of his old tricks to feed Curty who was more than happy to finish the play with his stick in the air.
The White boys had great pressure from their forwards using power & speed, Crafty & Officer Friendly muscled their way to the net for some chances & worked well along the boards while Fricker raced down his wing for several scoring opportunities. The trio of Pop Gun, Rustoleum & Romo were a handful every time they took the ice, quick feet & quicker passes meant some great goals & other good looks. Shooter continues to find himself in scoring position & is always dangerous, only his pending hip replacement keeps him from scoring more.
Spongee, a true TNHL treasure, played well in the second game of a back to back, which is not easy when you get to be his age. Sadly Bobs team suffered an OT loss in the finals of the Old Man Hockey League as the Black team skated away with the "Dentures Cup" Spongee was a finalist for the Depends Undergarment MVP award.
Crabby has been on his game these last few weeks & is always up for the challenge of a "Dean Youngblood" wannabe, it's always cool to see the look on a flat bellies face when Crabby introduces himself.
Once again the Dark defense was solid, Quiet Brian & Daddy Pat played tremendous together breaking up rushes, clearing rebounds or tying up White sticks during goal mouth scrambles. Just don't ask Romo if it was done legally. Murph's play week after week makes this easy to write, look back at almost any update and it will say pretty much the same thing, this guy never gives me anything different to write about unless he is on the Beer List, I think I'm going to call him Copy & Paste.
Flounder is another one, nothing flashy but steady once again this week right up until he pulls a Bobby Orr & jumps into the slot for the Beer Frame goal. This was another one that Tree never had a chance on I know he will say different but the Darkies scored some goals that were just unstoppable, Tree hung tough & kept the boys close.
Rusty needs to have his man card bronzed, this guy tells his wife he will take the family to a hockey game for their 19th wedding anniversary next thing you know they show up at Springfield. And the Howe's think they are the first family of hockey not in the "T". Our all time favorite fan Buffy was on hand looking as lovely as ever proving once again that hockey players get all the hot chicks, she along with her equally as beautiful daughter made a sign in honor of our hero. Thankfully the sign was home made & not by the Tyler Seguin fan club.
Crabby did a nice job on the beer with some LaBatt's & Bud Light meaning many tabs for Daddy Pat. The Commish is still out with what we hope is not a serious lower body injury, Liam is still short on Mexicans & Johnny Longpants is AWOL.
Till next week
