WEEKLY UPDATE

Wow that will be a tough act to follow, our first week of the season might have been one of the best skates we have ever had. Now I'm sure you guys are wondering why my unemployed ass did not get the update out yesterday and I assure you it had nothing to do with how sore and tired I was, truth be told I spent   the day taking cell phone selfies and posting them on twitter.

Anyway, lots of flat bellies out there & that always means a fast skate, it was an express elevator game; up & down with no stops. Quiet Brian opened the scoring for the season with a wrist shot from the slot about ten minutes in for the White boys. The Sponge family backstopped the White gang as Bob played well in front of his son Zach, lets call him "Brick" as in wall, despite several great scoring chances early on the Darkies could not break through. Brick's quick legs & quicker glove made yours truly wonder what the hell I have been trying to pass off as goaltending all these years, it has never resembled anything like that. His play allowed the Whites to build on there lead, Lil' Shooter was dealing phinding PHricker oph the post phor a nice goal & cashing in for a couple of his own.
Shooter looked like his usual sniper self getting his fair share of shots & at least one goal & late season go to sub Watson returned to play in his first game as a regular. His repaired skate had him back up to full speed & earned him his nickname "Rivets".

Old buddy Craig was back too, as always his play was top notch even though sitting in the locker room he looked like some kind of cross between Jeff Spicoli & a Furby.

Johnny Longpants rounded out the White crew lending his steady hand on the back end & jumping into the rush to cash in on the offensive chances.
But the Darkies had some flatbellies of their own, most of whom are twice as old as the average Flatty. Crafty finally solved Bricks with a bullet under the bar on a breakaway, He played a big role in the come back. For a long stretch the Dark forecheck kept the puck hemmed in the White zone, Cricket & Hammer (a true Flatty) pushed the tempo and got the puck deep where the big guys went to work.

The Commish, fighting off the Irish weekend Hangover,

teamed with Daddy Pat to dictate the style of play in their office,
along the boards & in front of the net to chip away at the White lead while Crabby tested his Bionic hip early on & looked like his old self unloading some big slap shots, slick toe drags & just enough bumps & wacks to keep the youngsters honest. Rusty finished cleaning the dining room table in time to join us had a little trouble fitting into his hockey pants & was only a crossed set of fingers away from ending up on a Loverboy album cover. Romo teamed with new sub Toronto Jeff to form the best half Canadian duo this league has ever seen, Romo played like he was full with  piss & vinegar but actually it was just some uric acid & Toronto tired after an hour as he did not figure on the American Ice Exchange rate.

The Darkies persistence got them the lead late & were able to hold on as the time expired but as you know we play until the last goal, scored by the White for a tie.............

Shooter did a nice job with the beer supplying some cold La Batt's which went quickly, as we spilled into the parking lot many of us did not have another cold beer. This led to a discussion and eventually a petition to the Beer Czar to add a case to the list. Our request was denied, however Rusty will not stand in the way of the "back up case" if someone should bring one, a simple blog post stating your intentions would prevent to many good Samaritans on any given night. Just a thought.

Till next week,
