WEEKLY UPDATE

With the holiday ALL STAR break keeping every TNHL'er off the ice you would have thought we would not have any news to report, not so fast my friends. Rumors abound concerning the first TNHL outdoor game, sources inside the TNHL offices in Springfield have confirmed preliminary discussions have taken place. The location of the tentatively named SPRING SKATE is still up in the air although The Collingdale Ponds seem to have the inside track. The surface of the big pond is about the same size as the Springfield Rink, the depth of the water is an obvious concern as would be the temperature outside during the spring. Another aspect of the game which is still in negotiations is the media coverage, word is publishing giant TOWN TALK news papers is willing to do it. One thing we can tell you is the game will be sponsored by the good people at NEWPORT MARINE who have even offered to supply those floating key chains just in case there isn't any ice to skate on. The Commish would not confirm or deny any of these rumors, but knowing how he likes to market his league (see the new clothing line & Internet web page) this reporter would be surprised if this game fell through. Pun intended.
