THANKSGIVING UPDATE

The Pre- Thanksgiving skate was a success as usual, plenty of players for both squads, plenty of beers in the locker room & plenty of laughs at Nick's. The Darkies got the best of the Whites in a rocking affair. With Curty practicing his CURTesy flush in the men's room the white squad jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Brit whistled one from the face off dot on his first shift. It would be an hour before the Whites would score again while the Darkies built a big lead. Shooter, Chuck & Curty led an assault on the White net with some fine tic-tac-toe passing leaving Tree little chance on several goals. On defense Jaybird, Murph, Crabby & Craskey shut down the White attack with some fine play in the neutral zone & out front of their own net & all were able get on the scoreboard as well. Then there was the Collins brothers, old Quiet Brian was able to slip a ringer past the Commish, Johnny Gluten showed some good skating skills as well as quick hands when he put one just under the crossbar from just out front,they were a pretty good combination any time they were on the ice.
The white did manage a second goal on the evening as Spongee buried a shot through the five hole. Spongee looked like a new man, metro sexual even, with his European style helmet that let his ears flap in the breeze as he skated through the zone. To a goalie it kind of sounds like those deer whistles you put on the bumper of your car, his White jersey finished off the "Borje Salming" look. The rest of the Whites had a tough time getting on the scoreboard, they were able to generate some good chances but the kept hitting Sixpack with pucks.
Once again we were short a couple of regulars, hopefully it is not due to injury & they will return soon. The Beer was handled beautifully by the Commish & Daddy Pat, each picking up a case of tasty LaBatt's Blue. After that it was off to Nick's till 1am for a sausage fest, video darts, Liam's story about a hippie who voted for Obama & Fricker's story about blasting sitar music & bribing Habib with $20 for the use of his NYC taxi cab. Wow! All this & I get to wake up at 2:30 to take a piss that I couldn't hold until 5:30.
Any how I had a blast.
