I spoke with Bob Artese at the Flyers game last night about the status of the rink. He said the insurance company has agreed to fix the beam, tehy also sugested a new roof be put on the barn so right now it is up to our elected officals. Bob suggested we hit them with another round of emails asking if there was any news on the rink, he said they were impressed with the level of intrest in keeping the rink open. Pass the word and send an email.

How are things coming with the party planning?
i spoke to artese earlier today and he indicated the rink was not going to be repaired due to the cost and that the twp had the option of instead using the funds provided by Travelers, who insured it, to use as they saw fit. similar to when you get in a car accident and the insurance company sends you a check and you have the option of getting the car repaired or not. well in this case the twp has decided to take the "or not" route. but not really as the rink is insured as part of the whole pool etc complex so from the ins co perspective the payout they make to the twp is the same as if , say , a fence or wall as damaged around the pool. to the twp they would rather take the $$ as it would only take about 20% of what travellers is going to reimburse them to demoloish the rink and render it as added parking and storage for both the golf course and the pool. its been a great tnhl run but it looks like its over. time to call the skatium or ice line.
