Twas’ the skate before Christmas & all through the rink, the boy’s were getting ready & the equipment did stink. With Russ soaked in deer piss & Daddy Pat running late’ we had all settled in for our Holiday Skate. Carl & Liam appeared like ghosts in the mist to ask only one question… Who’s on the Beer List?
The Commish was just waiting to see the color Brit wore in hopes with some passes he might even score. Then it’s out of the locker room & on to the ice, watch out for Curty Down Low, last week he scored twice. The game started slowly, but soon we were flyin’, then the rink filled with children & they were all Quiet Brian’s.
And Chuck crashes in like a quick skating menace; it took him 3 weeks to miss Dennis St. Dennis. There’s Jay on the doorstep & Shooter in the slot, Donny The Tin man at the red line a defenseman he’s not.
Down the wing comes Crabby with hands quick as a thief, he’s not here for the hockey just a cold beer & roast beef. A big slap shot on Tree who stands tall in his net, he changed his position without a regret. A shutout was possible; he still had a chance, but out at the point stood Johnny Long Pants.
Big Papi was eager to put on a show; But Spongee was quicker, guess Frank was to slow. He swept in with the puck & was looking top shelf, but Spongee is better as a gay dancing Elf. Fricker scooped up the rebound & skated with pride, deep into the zone with a goal scorer’s stride.
A goal would not be easy, he was hounded by Murph, & a young Tiny Tim who resembles a Smurf. Then it ends with a soft goal as it does most weeks it seems, but if you look at the clock it’s past 10:15. So bring Bud Light or Coors Light or some cold Labatt’s Blue, try Smithwick’s or Molson when the list tells you to.
Cause Craskey he slipped up, he had an excuse but it was lame, but Sixpack was there with the save of the game. A case of Labatt’s was cold on that night, just like the time we were stuck with Miller Lite. This Tuesday Night Skate has become quite q spectacle it may cause some injuries like a twisted left testicle.
So during this holiday season remember one thing, it’s not how you play it’s the beer that you bring. This Christmas Wish is sincere & not meant to be futile, it goes out to everyone, not just a few skating Gentiles,It’s to all of the blog readers, like Buffy & the Crew, & Happy Hanukkah to Brit you’re our favorite Jew.
