Game Summary

This week saw light benches but play did not suffer, the Darkies won a close one & despite only three subs the action was quick all night. Once again Murph was huge for the Dark side & teamed with the versatile Quiet Brian to have great night on the blueline. Their play was important as they had to deal with the White Lightning speedsters, Tiny Tim, Hurricane Carl & Johnny Longpants.

But the Whities were led by the power forwards, Crafty Craskey & Crabby crashed the net & scored some goals, The Commish is at the back door so much he started to build a porch & Big Pappi was a pain in my ass screening all night. It was a strange night for Tree, he was tremendous early on, then had a rough go of it about midway through nearly taking out his frustration with one $65 swing of his stick. After he gained his composure, settled down & played well again.

Liam led the way for the Dark crew playing one of his best games of the year, hustling at both ends of the ice, scoring & setting up two goals with sweet passes. Mike the Avid Reader returned & found his way on to the score sheet as did Curty Downlow, Shooter & Chuck who continue their relentless quest for more goals.

Big Pappi score big with the can't miss selection of LaBatt's Blue but showed some concern with the possibility of left-overs when I showed up with another case, all I know is PEOPLE OFTEN ASK ME ABOUT MY DRINKING BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE ABOUT MY THIRST!

Game Summary

After a week where the benches were almost empty the fair weather hockey players returned & the game was much better. The Darkies got back on the winning side & skated away with a 3 goal victory. Although the Commish was MIA chaos was still the order of the day

The Darkies opened the scoring on a sweet back door pass from Brit at the right point to Liam, who snuck behind the net to the left post. The White crew played tough all night led by the Bonner Connection, Daddy Pat, Crafty Craskey & especially Quiet Brian hustled up good chances all night, with each cashing in with goals & Spongee did his part for both teams while on D.

Johnny Longpants & Tiny Tim generated plenty of offense from the blue line as usual but were left to slam their sticks anger after most shifts. J-Bird seemed to put a body on Chuck every time he had the puck & once again Tree kept the score from being one-sided with his quick feet & glove. Is it just me or do Big Pappi & Fricker look like this I i when they are skating next to each other?

What can you say about the Darkies, solid throughout the line up; Shooter shooting, Crabby not shooting because he is on Shooters line, Britter making passes that get the same reaction as a fart on an elevator WHOA, DUDE!, OH MAN!, WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?, GOOD ONE!, Curty Downlow & Chuckie making things happen in the offensive end & even comming all the way back to the Red Line to help out on D. Speaking of D, Rusty turned in another gutsy performance & I think we may have found a Brian that is Quieter than Quiet Brian. At one point the Darkies kept the Whites from scoring for more than 30 minutes & I think Murph was on the ice for 27 of those minutes.

Anyway it was a good skate & Daddy Pat was named the BEER LIST PLAYER OF THE YEAR for bringing a fine assortment of flavors that were all welcomed by a tired bunch of drinkers that never let hockey get in the way of an ice cold beer.

Where is he now?

Some past TNHL players have moved on to bigger and better things. Well, those that Tree didn't cripple anyway. This is the real Larry Patterson and not that Murphy guy who impersonates him every Tuesday night.

Game Summary

Sorry for the delay in the update, just wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to see the e-mail about Frank's benefit maybe we can make plans to attend at the very least.

On to the game, I'll keep it short, young Carl was outstanding for the white squad, involved in almost every goal. He must have had a really good coach when he was in elementary school! With plenty of room on the benches, the white boys did a nice job keeping the pressure on the darkies.

I have to give credit to the CCCC gang, first up Carl sr. he played his usual stellar game on the blueline but he also went home & brought his son back to help out. Next is Crafty Craskey, he was just relentless on the puck, so focused that he slammed into Crabby while they both watched another goal.

Onto the Commish who while playing hurt did not miss a shift that seemed to come after about a fifteen second seat on the bench, he showed some great hands late in the tilt when he fished the puck around several defenders in front of the white net.

Finally there is Crabby, who showed that real hockey players don't quit, they scrape themselves up & when the coach tells them to go they go. Hats off to you guys, I thought that I was just having a bad night in goal but that was not the case you guys wanted it more.

You know I can't write this without giving Goalie X his due, Tree showed his quick glove hand to go with perfect positioning & made the job look easy. The darkies have had better nights, but at least they showed up. Apparently there was a major ice storm on Westfield Rd, we are expecting the dog sled team to give us a report any day now, next time if you guys are afraid to drive let us know we'll send someone over from Springfield High School Drivers Ed. to pick you up.

Anyway, good job to the MEN that showed up, we really earned our reward of cold LaBatt's. See all you guys next week, unless it is too dark out for some of you.

Frank Vernacchio Fund Raiser Meeting

Straube asked me to post this email from Jim Hazelton about a fundraiser for Frank.

By now I'm sure you all have heard the unfortunate news that our dearest friend Frank Vernacchio suffered a heart attack last week and subsequently had to undergo major open heart surgery. Obviously he will be looking at a long recovery which will most certainly create some significant financial hardships for him. With that being said, we have scheduled a Beef n Beer Fundraiser for him on Saturday Night April 5th, 2008 at the St. Kevin's Hall in Springfield Pa.

I'm asking everybody receiving this email to be a part of the organization committee for "FRIENDS OF FRANK" (FOF) to assist with this major event. You folks are the best there is when it comes to these type of things. I have had the privilege of being close friends with most of you for over a decade and one of the biggest things we have in common is Frank is our great friend.

Of course we will need the help of others but I'm asking you guys to be the core group to assist with preparation, ticket sales, raffle items and other jobs
that are needed to complete this event. There is no doubt Frank has thousands
of friends but to maintain organization and get this event moving I felt you guys should be the core group. Once we meet, then we can reach out to others as needed but the important thing is everything filters into our committee to keep track of things and stay organized.

I would like to have a private meeting with all of you so I can tell you what we have accomplished so far and have you share your ideas and resourses so we can raise as much money as possible for Frank and his family.

I would like to have the first meeting on Tuesday 2/19/08 7pm at Ice Works. I know this may be a conflict for some of you but right now time is of the essance and we have to get the ball rolling.

Just FYI, this is what we have accomplished so far ( most are very low cost and donations):

Location St. Kevin's ( Mike Meile arranged the biggest hall in the county that holds 500+ in a central location and provided insurance) Food ( Lou Tiernan) Music ( Frank, Eagles Sound Production) Tickets & Posters ( Collingdale Press) Trust Fund account ( Sharon Bank )

This is what we still need to focus on:

People to reach out to all teams for ticket sales Raffle Items Promotions Beverages ( Keg Donations, Soda) Paper Goods Snacks

If for some reason you cannot participate, please let me know asap and we will understand.

Please rsvp and let me know you recieved the email and if you can attend..

Again, please keep this quiet because we don't want Frank or his family to know until we get things moving.

Thanks,

Jim Hazelton

Player Bio: Tree

No one knows where the change came from, but once he was accepted by his family, it was much easier to tell his friends about the change of life style.

THUMBNAIL:

  • Goalie X

  • Long time defensive stalwart with tremendous offensive upside.

  • Rumored to have ended the career of one former TNHL'er and possibly more.

  • Is now one of the top two goaltenders in the TNHL

  • Hybrid type of goalie cut from the Olaf Kolzig mold.

  • Remains to be seen if he will hold up once he begins to see more rubber coming at him than Rock Hudson's ass.

  • Will not have the luxury of having himself playing defense in front of him.

Game Summary

This week, in honor of Black History Month, we will have a special Weekly Update from the desk of civil rights leader Jessie Jackson.

This past Tuesday nighta, wuz like a lot of Tuesday nightsa, the Whites battled our Black brothers only to be turned back by a 7-5 score. It wuz obvious that the Black preparation resulted in perspiration after a compilation of communication for a continuation of an operation of anialhation against their opponent which wuz due to excellent concentration.
I wuz not happay with the fact that y'all wuz smackin' around some black objecta & I have formed a committee with my good friend Rev. Al Sharpton to get the color of the puck changed to white.
Y'all may not beleive that this wuz the first time I have been to a hockey game, they play it a lot in Canada; the Great White North, & I did not get many votes from my constituants north of the border the last time I sought the office of Commander & Chief. I did learn a couple of things I did not know about ice hockey; they ought to play ice hockey on the beach, cause it be freezin' in that rink, aint nobody tryin' to dunk & them crackers that be standin' in front of that net is CRAZY. And one more thing where wuz the Colt 45 & Cristal, what about dem ho's dat be skatin, after y'all?
