A WEEK LATE UPDATE - THE END

Sorry for the delay with the lat update but I had a lot on my plate, first off I spent a long night in the parking lot but did manage to get about 3 1/2 hours sleep. A roller hockey championship run for my son & my duties as a trophy husband took up the rest of the week.
After a great time was had by all at the family skate & with the aroma of Jaybird's ribs still in the air, the boys took to the ice for the final skate of the season. The White squad picked up the victory by scoring the NEXT goal. The game had a nice pace & the goaltending was the best it had been all season. I don't recall the goal scorers for the Dark, I know Shooter had a beauty & the Commish capped his season with a least one of our four goals. Opie had a couple for the Whites including the game winner while Chuck & Jaybird played good cop/ bad cop on a 2 on 0 break & Jay smoked me like a rack of ribs. We had plenty of suds in the locker room, Hinekin, Molsen, & 2 cases of La Batt's led to a late night, but not before Spongee did a little side job with his shrink wrap on my sticks.
As usual there has been talk of a golf outing, I'm hearing Friday May 8th at Springfield, as far as I know this has not been confirmed. As far as plans for the summer Tree will be heading to Lake Placid for a goalie camp, Crabby will be suiting up for his old buddies "THE CRABS" out at Oaks & the rest of us can be found on baseball/softball fields, beaches, & hopefully golf courses throughout the area. And I just picked up the greatest new lawn mower ever, the instructions said I should put the bag on it, so the old lady is out back cutting the grass.

Seriously, I just wanted to thank the Commish for all his work keeping this thing going every year & all you guys for coming out every week, this was our best year yet as far as guys showing up & it made for our best season to date. Also hats off to Tree for his perfect attendance this year, for this he has been awarded the #15 jersey.
Have a great summer & hopefully we can get together for a beer before October.

WEEKLY UPDATE

Sorry about missing the deadline with this weeks "Update", but as I explained to the editor here at the WU my drinking problem has not allowed me be sober enough to think. At least it was nothing serious.
Anyway, it was a good game this week with the Whites finally putting away the Darkies with a late surge. Rudy had it going Tuesday picking up a couple nice breakaway goals early & benefiting from some bounces that all seemed to go the White way. Liam returned to the line up & hustled up a couple of good chances while Chuck was once again playing like his hair was on fire. As usual the White squad relied on their stable of offensive minded defense men for much of their pressure. Crabby is always dangerous with his patten ed "toe drag" & heavy shot & has now shown a willingness to go to the ice to block a shot or a pass, just as he goes to the ice to grab a beer. Romo picked up his points & was a force on defense as was Johnny Longpants they are a handful when on the ice together. On the Dark side Brit & Fricker were the leaders up front using their speed & skill to set up much of the offense & score a few goals. Moose & Curty also chipped in up front & hopefully got some good pictures of White goals while on the back check. Jaybird was back in the White uniform this week & will continue to play for the winning squad until we get some ribs. Proving once again he will do anything to ensure a good skate the Commish not only changed teams to help even the sides but he added some insight to a Johnny Longpants goal. Sounding much like Keith Jones he was good enough to let me know that I had just been "snipped" OUCH! Murph & Rusty did a nice job on "D" for the Darkies along with Opie who was his usual buzzsaw self. Tree played well in net using his quick glove & excellent positioning for many of his stops not allowing the Whites to get any closer than one goal down. Quiet Brian usually has a couple goals & a few assists each week but this week he had a huge helper, a case of Molsen Golden to be exact, ice cold &plentiful of course. Crabby also stepped up with a cooler much like his game, lunch pail, it does the job & gives you more than you thought you were going to get out of it. But the real cooler was rolled in by Carl "The Tool Man" Unger, this thing was quite a sight, a low rider with mag spinners for wheels & you should have seen what was under the hood, all sponsored by Snap On & LaBatts.
This trio came to the aid of their comrade Spongee who had promised beer this week but could not make the skate, apparently Spongee had some trouble unwrapping a boat this week. Sources say he put the shrink wrap machine on high while in reverse, these were the first photos to be released.

ONE MORE THING, POST WHATEVER YOU ARE GOING TO BRING TO THE FAMILY SKATE THIS WAY WE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT ELSE WE WILL NEED.
SEE YOU TUESDAY

WEEKLY UPDATE

The Benches were jammed again this week as the season winds to an end & everyone brought their game. The Darkies picked up the win in a back & forth affair.Daddy Pat led the way for the Darkies picking up the "hatty" & adding a couple of assists while Spritell teamed with Curty to keep the pressure on in the White zone. The White boys went toe to toe with the chances & Rudy returned to form notching his normal handful of points & Fricker continues to morph into Theo Fleury with a gluten free beer habit. Quiet Brian went back to the White team this week & was a force as he usually is setting up a few goals the nicest coming off a cross ice pass to young Joe McCloskey at the back door. Rusty was off the hook this week as my son took his turn lighting me up. Tony Romo had his share of scoring chances picking up a goal & at least one assist on a sweet deflection off a drive from his point position. He also looked like he might have injured Opie Cunningham on a collision behind the net, Opie got up gasping for air. It was only later we learned the gasp was an attempt to get some fresh air as Romo has one of the smelliest jerseys in the "T". The Commish played one of the best games of the night chipping in at the offensive end but mostly with his strong play in front of his own net breaking up several White scoring chances. The goaltending was good, not great but was on par with the play, Tree had the quick glove & made several tough saves by flashing some leather. Jaybird switched back to to the White squad only to see his scoring streak snapped at one game but Spongee's streak continues as he has not found the net in the last few weeks. Moose also saw his numbers suffer as he was held off the board, he had been complaining that his feet hurt, well Kev when everything hurts you have made it to the TNHL, until then you are only a minor league call up. Johnny Longpants wore White but still spent quite at bit of time in the Dark end & Chuck once again played his pinball style bouncing off of everything while picking up the beer frame goal at about 10:20 on a shot that I would like to have back. Crabby & Carl were a force on the blue line for the Darkies, a nice combination of size & speed with a physical presence. We also had a new comer this week as Jimmy Mac laced them up for the first time in over six years, all the memories came flooding back like .....DINNER. Skating up the ice he reminded me of Pinocchio, sitting on the bench next to him Murph looked like Geppitoe.
The Commish came up huge with the beers serving up some LaBatt's along with some tasty Harp Lager. Good skate boys, see you next week.

NOTE; Wii bowling ended to late for this edition.
