WEEKLY UPDATE

On a night when Kimmo Timonen & I played in a combined 1000 NHL games, half of our TNHL'ers must have stayed home to watch. This led to a 3 on 3 game & I honestly don't know who came out on top. There were some good goals & some bad goals, good goaltending & some bad goaltending & in the end plent of good beer thanks to the Commish. Shooter returned along with Daddy Pat & I'm happy to report both are tick free

Pop Gun & 5 battled it out, a test for their young legs, both had a bunch of goals. Romo enjoyed all the open ice as he was able to stretch his legs again this week. White Doug & Chuck were troopers this week, traveling from the outskirts of Pa. playing a ton of minutes & then driving home with legs like jelly.

Murph once again played almost as many minutes as Tree & I, do we have an award for perfect attendance. I wonder if the Commish is still back door waiting for that pass. Hopefully we have a better turnout next week, till then....

WEEKLY UPDATE

NO FRANK Tonight!!!!
White verses Dark meant a little more this week as 5 found himself across from his Pop instead of on his wing, the Commish then surrounded himself with some of the other talent he has coached over the years. This move was critical to the outcome in this one as the White outlasted the Darkies in a fast paced game. Pop Gun opened the scoring with a soft goal early on, just the type of goal that would end up costing the Darkies in the end.

The game was close early on when the Constipation Kid chipped in with a couple of assists, he then added a couple goals late. White Doug & Stinky Pete were buzzing as well for the Dark at the offensive end & appeared to be all hopped up on Flinstone Chewables late hanging tough with the young White legs. Those legs kept the energy up all night, Chubby Craig appears to have lost some weight & his feet were as quick as his hands which led to some padded stats for him. P.Weissy returned this week, his size & speed fit in well with the White game, his play allowed Romo the freedom to join the rush more often & keep the pressure on the Darkies for long stretches.
It was during on of these stretches that Dr.Romo prescribed a sedative to Quiet Brian. QB's patience were tested later as well when he was surrounded by a bunch of sweaty Glutten Guzzelers including Rusty who came out to watch some hockey. The game remained tight as the goaltending was up to the task as Tree returned from abroad , Swedish I think, & played very well especially late as the White boys pulled ahead. On his trip Tree unearthed an old family photo.

The White boys also had some grit in their game to go with all the slick skating, Chuck & Hockey Dave both picked up goals from the dirty areas they call home, despite having to deal with Murph & Flounder, never an easy task. Johnny Longpants picked a really good night to come back to the Dark side, his steady hands & offensive skills from the blueline helped the boys stay in this game. The guy is just cool, here he is between shifts.
Crickett,seen here
has been swamped at work & has not been able to join us lately, reached out to let us know he is ok & hopes to rejoin us before our last skate.

Shooter meanwhile was out this week for what was believed to be a maintenance day, turns out his miraculous recovery from three hip replacements might be due to  a revolutionary yet controversial new therapy sweeping the plains of Iowa. Dr Woody Doebanger of Do-R-Deer Farms is taking credit for Shooters quick return & has some interest in helping Crabby. Dr Doebanger claims his "Rear Deer Dick Slip is sure to help a Trick Hip"
I had beer this week, a cooler filled with frosty LaBatt's & a couple Carona's kept me up way too late, leading to the delay with the Update. Hope you had a Happy St.Patrick's Day, Till next week.

WEEKLY UPDATE

Once again the numbers looked bleak at the start of our skate but the benches filled up & a fast paced game ensued. Tree returned to form, slipped a little then finished up with several ten bell saves down the stretch, but in the end the Darkies came out on top.
Springfield's ambassador to Mexico found the back of the net early for the Whites only to see the Dark answer quickly. Shooter may not have his skating legs back yet but his shot has returned as he opened the scoring for the Dark. The Springfield High Hockey Alumni were well represented as we had quality players from two different centuries join us. Mayor Sweeney & Tree reminisced about the early days when they starred for the Cougars shorty after the discovery of ice while Ambassador Sheilds, P.Wiessy & Popgun Donohue added to their youtube highlight reels. Crabby, 5, Chubby & Lil' 6 along with all these guys all played for one of the Central Leagues top programs that has become a pipeline to the TNHL.
At this point of the season most guys are playing with some type of injury, Daddy Pat has been playing well on a bad knee turning in one solid game after another, Quiet Brian took a shot off the foot last week, limped in late & like Pat was a key part of the win. That brings us to Johnny Longpants who may be suffering with a case of amnesia, Johnny remembered the game along with his gear & he even managed to remember the rink but he forgot the beer. I was told by Johnny's Angels not to mention it again...understood ladies.
Hockey Dave made a generous offer, as we sat beerless in the locker room, to grab a case of Coor's Light from his garage but the boys decided to stop a Nick's instead.
Romo & Crafty played their typical game but were far less effective in the offensive zone, they were in the right position ready to do something with the puck they simply played to many shifts with the Constipation Kid. CK continues to try to do it all himself despite all the talent around him. So much so that after he had the wind knocked out of him I swore he would carry himself out on a stretcher.
Fricker & Chuck enjoyed the quickness of the game as it fits their style well, the trouble was they had to deal with Chickie & Murph two veterans that would cramp any style.
The Commish missed again this week due to a nagging skate issue, seems Frank has not been able to make the repair to the troubled blade, oddly enough he has found a use for his good skate while he awaits the return of his glass slipper
Looks like Rusty has revolutionized deer dick production in his free time on Tuesday nights.

And Crabby has been passing the time playing charades.
Till next week

Crabby is not responsible for the horrendous spelling, grammar, and spongeification of this blog's content.
